well, I went into the building to the west (left) of the bank in the starting village and went down the ladder, I found nothing to do there so I tried to go back up the ladder, but the ladder won't work, there is no other way out. am I stuck forever?

use a teleport. :confused:

All you need to do is teleport out. Use any of the tele's, no runes are required.
