Why Don't I Skull When I Kill????

For some reason in the wilderness when i kill anybody i don't get a red skull,rating or the drops right away. This has been happening when i am not lagging at all even the server is fine and i am taking all there health down i am really confused and it would be great if someone could help me!:confused:

I'm not definately sure, but I have a small feeling this happens to everyone...
