but i was playing for a while and now when i try to log in i get error conecting to server.... does that mean ive done something wrong or is that something wrong with the server?

i did download the client, but that has the same thing.

Server is down don't worry you've done nothing wrong I think but were all getting it so just wait it out mate.

I had to restart server, it is now backup.
