Hey this is a paper I am doing for my History class, can you please help me to identify any errors I might have in it or anyway I can make it better?

The topic is: Do you think Americans have lived up to the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence?

Ideals Lived Up To?

Americans have lived up to the ideals expressed in the declaration of Independence; they have proven they have in a numerous amount of ways over the period of the last few centuries.

Throughout history Americans have shown that they have lived up to these ideals through opportunity. Americans were making maps back in 1673; they showed that they have found great opportunity in the U.S. When these maps were established, European nations had established colonies in North America. In the map there are ports and ships. These represent that Americans could ship and travel to faraway places.

Americans have lived up to the ideal of liberty in their country. For example, in the 1960’s the hippies were able to ride buses and express their freedom of speech, these young people expressed their disappointment in traditional ways of life through clothing, music and food. Americans expressed disappointment in traditional ways of life, in American now, they have different religions. It shows what the hippies were trying to encourage during their time.

Americans have lived up to the ideal of equality. For example: The first time in the history, Hispanics, blacks, Asians, and other non-white residents accounted for half of the nation’s population of the nation’s largest cities, according to the new census. This shows equality because everyone in the U.S is equal. So no matter what ethnic background you have, or what color your skin is, you can get a job within the U.S.

In all the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence, Americans have lived up to them, and showed that they have lived up to them throughout history.
