Metallica is a good old metal band, I rekon their new album is their best yet. Still plenty of other metal bands I would rather listen to.

I got Death Magnetic, and I've learned pretty much all of the songs on guitar. One of their best yet.

Still, Kill Em All had the most Thrash out of all of the albums. Metal Militia is kick-ass, as well as No Remorse and Whiplash. That whole album is basically insane. :)

I like how in DM they made what they wanted to play, not what someone told them. Thats what makes a good band.

I'm playing 'The Day that Never Comes' on guitar right now. lol.

@Kreator: You're a sell-out. The biggest sell-outs of 2008 are... Slipknot and Dragonforce.

Because Metallica are NOT SELL OUTS.

They chose a different path, and decided to try other styles of playing. You don't see many bands doing that, coming out successful, and then lasting even longer, with more great albums after do you? They just tried it, it obviously didn't stay like ReLoad.

I guess to some people, trying something new is a bad idea.

Do you know why they chose a different path? No, they did it because the thrash scene was dying in the late 80s/early 90s so as they wernt going to make any more money of playing "thrash" they moved on to playing other stupid music. When they first started playing music they said they would never do such thing and that they were agaisnt it. I guess MONEY changes people. Oh and btw every album after ..And Justice for All, sucked... although i will say that the first 3 albums are classic, just that.

Load wasn't that bad. King Nothing is a fantastic song.

Your giving me the standard "they sold-out for money" excuse. I am suprised you didn't mention how "Bob Rock sucks, he ruined Metallica".

If the "thrash" scene was dying, why did they go back to playing metal again? Lemme guess, money?

You just don't like it because you are a sheltered child and can't accept how people, and music changes. You don't have to like Load or ReLoad, or any of those albums, just don't call them a sell-out when they NEVER sold-out.

I'll give you an example of a sell out, and you'll see why Metallica isn't one.

Dragonforce recently had "Through the Fire and the Flames" featured on GH3. This brought their popularity and sales through the roof. Then, with their new album, "Ultra Beatdown" they made every song sound simlar to "Through the Fire and the Flames" in order to sell more copies. That was a sell-out.

Metallica was trying to update their style a bit to more modern standards because people were getting bored with the same old style. They did the opposite of selling out by not appealing to what made them rich in th first place. They took a chance to bring their fans something new.

Well simply the truth yes, they are starting to play "thrash" again. You can see this by their new album which they tried to make their sound like they used to be. And thrash is starting to rise again specially over in the west coast, mainly in L.A.

wtf are you talking about??? lmfao because of guitar hero and rock band everyone likes metallica now, and all those little posers favorite songs are either "One" or "Enter Sandman" ...lol same goes for slayer every posers favorite song is "Reign in blood" only because of guitar hero, i bet they didnt even know anything about their past music.

Everyone liked metallica to begin with, and the fact that they didn't change their music to appeal to the GH audience means they didn't sell out.

Don't double post.

Death Magnetic is the biggest ****ing failure of a Metal album ever released. Ever since St. Anger, Metallica has not been able to recapture ANY of the sounds and music of their old school stuff. I'm a fan of the "old" Metallica and NOT the ****ty new Metallica.

You have your opinion, and I have mine. I had an argument with my friend about this, he has the same views as you.

You say its a failure, and I think it is great. Now, some songs are not as good as they should be. Broken Beat and Scarred is one of them. Basically, the first 3 songs are just like fill-ins. When you get to The Day that Never Comes, then you start the album.

I obviously can't change your opinion, but listen to some songs again. I love pretty much every song off that album, with my favorites being That Was Just your Life, All Nightmare Long, Cyanide, and My Apocalypse.
