Anybody here ever use Linux?
My friend was telling me about it at school the other day and I decided to download it and everything. It was pretty sweet ... but the internet on it wasn't working. Therefore I deleted it. Now whenever I start my laptop it still gives me the choice to use Linux, but when I click on it I can't.
Anybody, know anyway to fix it so that the Linux sign doesn't show whenever I turn on my computer?
- Thanks,
Nero

You need to check under your C drive for any boot-up related things. You may need to get rid of the partition it made if it did make one.

Alright thanks.
Any idea how I can get my internet working on there if I ever plan to use Linux again?

Try Downloading Firefox and put installation on a USB drive, and install.

If you have a windows machine, your wireless card was probably designed to work with Windows, therefor it has no Linux drivers. Figure out the name of your Wireless Card, and google 'Linux Drivers for <name>' Download and install those onto Ubuntu. You can also search around on the Ubuntu forum, and possibly make a topic. I remember for the period I had Ubuntu on my computer, it took me quite a while to get it to reconize my old modem. As for removing the OS selector, you will have to completley delete the partition it was on.

Linux is great, I would still be using it except for my sound driver kept crashing. I managed to get kinda good with it. :D

I would just stick to your normal one.
In fact, Linux needs a different client for some servers.
I think they would be too much work.

Oh really? One of the main reasons I was going with Ubuntu was they have some really good free music editing software. What exactly happened with your sound card?

It seemed that whenever I got done listening to music/audio of any kind, my Sound driver would crash, making me reboot. The process would just repeat over and over, so I finally got annoyed and went back to Vista.

Did it work fine with Vista? Or did it keep crashing?

get some software called xVM VirtualBox (http://www.sun.com/software/products/virtualbox/get.jsp), it's not for the normal computer user, you need to be advanced and actually know what your doing on a computer before you start using this software, but what you do is you get the .iso of a operating system and you virtually mount it on a vitual drive and it installs it in a partion of the software and you can run an OS inside of an OS. Kinda compilcated, but i'll just link you to a good tutorial for it :P.
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/virtualbox
it wont hurt your computer other than use up a few gigs of your hard drive, all the information is stored on virtual drives and all that fansy things. The tutorial is for XP, but Vista is the exact same thing.
If you don't get anything in that tutorial, i would suggest you stay away from it, I don't want anyone ****ing up their computer because i told them to.
and you can install as many as you want in that virtual software. Some of the fancy effects wont work on it, but they are working to get full graphics card support out of the software.
I use it, I currently have Windows 7, ubuntu, and Solaris on mine. They all work great. Oh and you don't have to restart your computer to run it. It will act just like another program on your computer. :)
