Bryce Harper, what do you think of him?
They call him the Lebron of Baseball, he is more advanced than Derek Jeter when he was a kid at his age. For more information, click here (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Bryce-Harper-punches-his-ticket-to-Cooperstown-a?urn=mlb,167844).
Wow, he is good!
He is only 16, and his stats are unbelievable.
I think he will become VERY good when he goes into the MLB.

He hit 96 on the gun too! 16 years old, a man among boys.

I heard them talking about that. He is going to be the first pick in the draft and stats show that most people first picked, have never won a Cy Young and none of them have really even been mentioned in MLB History. Lets see how this kid turns out ;).

They most likely tested him. It's obvious he has played since he was 3.

They don't test in High School.

They might make an exception though, he went 12-12 with 11 home runs and a double.

He is only sixteen you said so as of now he hasn't accomplished **** in my opinion. When he prospers in the MLB than you can call him the LeBron on baseball.
This has happened with so many kids now-a-days so I don't believe any of it.

We're not calling him the Lebron of baseball, sports magazines are, he made the front page on every issue.
After he went 12-12 with 11 home runs and a double, he went home and told his mom that he played "okay".

Still this has happened to so many athletes it's not even funny. For example back in the 2003 NBA draft.
1) Cleveland Cavaliers: LeBron James
2) Detroit Pistons: Darko Milicic
3) Denver Nuggets: Carmelo Anothony
4) Toronto Raptors: Chris Bosh
5) Miami heat: Dwayne Wade
Who is Darko Milicic? Have you ever heard of him? No.

^ Look at that site, I bet you recognize 15+ of the names, but the second draft choice? Nope.
He was supposedly the second coming of Micheal Jordan and now you think "Who?"
He didn't prove anything and neither has the sixteen year old kid.

I don't hate him, I hate how sports all says there is some up and coming phenom who is the next Micheal Jordan or Tiger Woods and than in a couple years they are sitting on the bench of a minor league team or never heard of again.
Like I said, when he accomplishes all that the people are saying he will, than he is something to talk about. Now he is nothing.

The only athletes they said who was going to be super amazing like everyone said and was on covers of sports magazines and actually accomplished something, within the last 10 years, is LeBron and Tiger. There is such a difference between high school athletes and pro athletes it's ridiculous. Baseball especially, wait 5 plus years, and when you don't hear of this guy ever again just think to yourself "Nick from Dodian was right."

I wouldn't call it flamming, I'm about as worked up as a sleeping bunny rabbit. Off topic....Yes.
He will probably play for the Royals. They are getting worse and worse each year it seems. If it weren't for Greinke imagine how terrible they would be.

I know Deathtoll, seeing your picture on the cover of sports magazines, you think it would get to him, eh?
N I C K, you are an idiot that knows **** about sports.
Darko Milicic is still a player of high regard who has not gotten the minutes and points expected. Plus, he came out of a foreign country. It is VERY tough to make the jump overseas and start immediately playing and making a huge impact for your team. It's an incredible life change they go through. Along with the fact he has been injury-riddled, he's still played through very well. Anyways, the Pistons never gave him the light of day to even try (No wonder he only averaged a few minutes per game with them) and given a starting job I believe he can still be a solid 15/10 guy for a team that needs him (aka the Knicks, which is why they traded for him yesterday). Oh yeah, look at those other four players. I'm pretty sure LeBron was more heralded than him out of HS (he even could be a star WR in football right now) and yes, he has lived WAY PAST expectations. All of kids have, sans Darko.
J.J. Re**** was NEVER that good. Just because you're a little rich, preppy kid, playing on Duke (of all basketball teams) and you can shoot a ball damn well, doesn't mean you'll be good in the NBA. That's why he is a reserve guard for Orlando nowadays. He's too small and cramped. He can't dribble. No matter how good you are in college basketball, you CANNOT relate that once you get into the NBA. It's almost an entirely different game within itself.
Now, on topic; Bryce Harper will likely be the youngest player to start in MLB. He will be eligible for next years draft (Crazy, right?) and with all of his hype, he could start as a September callup.
I'm going to make a different point here, and throw out a name who will either be one of the best pitchers ever, or blow out his arm and never make it at all. His name is Stephen Strasburg. You may have heard of him. He's the flamethrowing pitcher from San Diego State who went number one to the Washington Nationals (of course the Nationals, no one is worse than them!) in the 2009 MLB Draft. He has been clocked to throw at/over 103 MPH, and well, I'll let this link (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/baseball/news?slug=uwire-topprospectstrasburgthrows&prov=uwire&type=lgns) say it all. Now if you don't think he's destined to be a star pitcher in the league, then you're crazy.
Along with this, we can welcome in hyped players of this year, such as Tommy Hanson, Fernando Martinez, and most of all, Matt Wieters. The catcher for Baltimore, he is starting to come to form and has hit some towering home runs in the past week or so. Yet, it's only been two. He hasn't produced as much as they thought he would. Hell, he's supposed to be BETTER than Joe Mauer. That's a tall task in itself. Joe Mauer has now finally dipped under a .400, yes, I said it, .400 batting average since his return from surgery in early May. He's also hit 15 HR's and dropped a ton of RBI's to make your chest wallow in. We do overhype the new players of our generation, that's always been what we do. They can either match what we think of them, or they don't. You live up to it, or not. After this though, I have to point out another callup of Baltimore. His name is Nolan Reimold. He might sound like a Real Estate salesman rather than a Major League outfielder, but the kid is having better stats than Wieters. .289, 10 HR's and more, average these to the playing time of Wieters, and he does not compare. Yet, lets see how the hype continues into the year.
These are just stories and facts about what could happen. To deny Bryce Harper any sort of new fame is ludicris. He WILL be a great player. He is destined to be. Oh, and do you know who has the number one pick next summer again? It's the Washington Nationals.
Let me tell ya, DC is gonna love this kid, baby.

I don't know **** about sports. Haha, that was a good one Spot.
Darko hasn't gotten the minutes and points expected because he was a bust. Many players from foreign countries come and do fine. Manu Ginobili for example. It's been what 6 years since he was drafted? Your saying it's hard for players overseas to immediately start playing and making a huge impact for your team but six years is enough.
Maybe I don't know **** about baseball, but I know more about sports than you do.
No matter how good you are in college basketball, you CANNOT relate that once you get into the NBA. It's almost an entirely different game within itself.
That's what I am saying about this Bryce kid. You can't relate a high school athlete to a MLB athlete because like you said, it's almost an entirely different game. I'm not saying he won't be good in the NBA I am just saying you can't say how good he will be yet. Hell, he may be better than A-Rod but right now he isn't.
