A Minnesota woman was charged 1.9 million dollars for downloading 24 songs. Are artists really getting that ****ing upset over losing 23 dollars and some cents that they're charging a housewife for 24 counts?

Wow is all I have to say. That's an outrageous fine for downloading just 24 songs. There are people all over the world downloading songs illegally. It's never going to stop. If they continue to search for illegal downloaders, they're going to make billions due to the fact there is over 1000+ that download illegally.

And the 16 year old ,teenage boy, next door has just finished his 2GB download of songs. Way to go American courts. *clap**clap**clap*
I got a DMCA notice from UMG (Universal Music Group) via my internet provider for downloading over 2,500 songs to my computer. It's been almost 2 years since that notice and since then, I've downloaded another ~10k songs since then. Trust me, if they actually gave a crap they would of done something to me by now.
I never buy songs/albums.
I get all my music from Limewire.

download safely.

It's to make an example. They know they can not get everyone. It's a sad attempt at scaring people off. If they really wanted people to stop they should have gotten 100 - 1,000 people with 1,000 or more songs and charged them 10,000 - 25,000 a song. Of course these idiots charge a single woman 1.9 million dollars. By the way, it's not Apple. It's a company that works for the music industry.

I think they should only be fined the value of the song itself. They're only fined because of the money the aritsts are loosing, right?
So it's un-fair and un-just to charge 80 grand per song.

It's copyright infringement. We had a case in mock-trial about it. It's more to make an example of someone then to make money.
Edit:
To the lawyers - Money
To the music industry - Examples
