Probably the easiest way to get Ubuntu, is Wubi. Wubi is downloaded onto windows and sets up ubuntu, making the installation simple. It does not need partitioning, and asks no questions, making ubuntu easy to install.
Once it is installed, if you experience problems or dont like it, you can just un-install it inside windows, like any other program.
Now, the steps:
1. Download Wubi from: http://wubi-installer.org
2. Download Ubuntu's iso file (desktop only i think i could be wrong. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
3. PUT THE .ISO IN THE SAME FOLDER AS THE WUBI FILE YOU DOWNLOADED. Just put it on your desktop really. You do NOT need to burn it to CD for this.
4. Disconnect all internet, wireless and wired. This is because it will download the .iso file for you but you already have. Downloading beforehand is faster.
5. Run Wubi, select your options. Like so:
PLEASE NOTE: Ubuntu requires a minimum of 5gb, so give it a good 7-8gb of space.

6. Reboot when its done.

7. As the computer turns on, you will be asked whether to boot in windows, or Ubuntu. Press Ubuntu
8. Now sit back and grab some popcorn, while the installer does all the work for you!
9. When this part of the installation is done, the computer will reboot again.
10. MAKE SURE AFTER YOU HAVE DONE THE 2ND PART OF THE UBUNTU INSTALL, AND ARE REBOOTING FOR THE SECOND TIME, PRESS WINDOWS!!!!
11. Just boot up windows once, then shut it down, and then boot into your now painlessly installed Ubuntu.
Now i caution one thing:
Dont do a hard-reboot, meaning, do not press the power butting to reboot, shut down normally. This will cause you to have some disk errors, and potentially, not be able to run Ubuntu.
Hope this helps a lot of people i've never done a tut like this
Oh and welcome to your new Ubuntu
