It's been a rough week.

Classes started for me this week. My schedule is kind of goofy.

Monday/Wednesday:
1pm - World History Post 1500
2:30pm - American Political Thought
4pm - Music History
5:30pm - Intro to Philosophy

Friday:

11:30 - Anthropology (3 hour class)

I know it doesn't seem too terribly bad. No classes on Tuesday or Thursday, and a fairly short day on Friday. The problem is that aside from Intro to Philosophy, all of those classes are either ridiculously boring or taught by nutjobs.

I also miss the girlfriend quite a bit.

For those of you that don't know, I recently moved from Texas to Colorado for college. My family, friends, and girlfriend still reside in Texas. On the plus side, though, the weather here is gorgeous and I've been eating a lot of bagels.

My Literary Tip for the day:
Poems with a Seussical rhyming scheme are easy to write and are almost always entertaining. Poetry doesn't always have to be beautiful or philosophical.

Too late. That's what the class is actually called, but the hippie 'music enthusiast' teacher asks us to call it Music History, because 'that's what it should be called'.

Yesterday was the girlfriend's birthday.

I sent her a framed picture of us from prom, a fancy little journal, a nice sweatshirt with her college's name across the front, and a webcam. We just Skype'd for almost 3 hours. It's nice to be able to see her again, but it really sucks that I'm not actually there. It's going to take some getting used to.

Luckily, I found a church this week. It has a college worship service on Tuesday nights, a guys' bible study on Thursdays and then a regular church service on Sunday mornings. I'm pretty psyched about that, I had been looking for one for a while.

I've been crazy busy with school lately. Sorry if I haven't been actively chatting in the IRC...I've spent a lot of time doing reading for History, American Political Thought or Anthropology. I'm still available a lot of the time, just not reading the IRC. My professors have been assigning a hell of a lot of pages to read, and now I have a 2-page journal entry due on Monday. I have no idea how to even get it started; I would have trouble pladurizing 2 pages on cultural anthropology, I can't see how I'll ever be able to write 2 pages on it myself.

Literary Tip: If you can't find inspiration for anything to write about, then you're full of crap. I can't take a shower without coming up with something I could write about (ex: my long, wet dong - it rhymes and everything). If you have 'writers block' then just quit thinking about thinking for a bit.

It's been too long since I've posted on this.

Things for me in the past few months have been interesting. I'm now single, and in my 2nd semester of college. I spent Christmas break with the girlfriend and towards the end I decided that the 1st semester was difficult enough, and we barely made it through that, so we're better off dropping things for now and hopefully picking them back up again someday. Being single is weird as hell now.

I've got a new job...well, an old job. For about a year and a half I was a manager at Papa John's Pizza, and now I'm settling for the same job (with better pay). Rather than the $9/hr I used to make, I'll now be making $11/hr, but I'm still not thrilled with it. I need the money, though, as I'll be paying for my own apartment come summer-time.

My new classes are incredibly different from last semester as well. My English teacher resembles the one I had in 9th grade - overzealous and condescending, but at least it seems like the class will be easy. I can't understand 90% of what my College Algebra and Political Modes of Thought professors say; one is from Ukraine and another is from Pakistan. That should be loads of fun. My other classes (Criminal Justice, Biology) seem alright enough though.

That's all for now. My Literary Tip of the day - don't try to write anything; just let it pour out of your head. I haven't been writing anything as of late due to my recent busy schedule, but hopefully I'll be able to relax and type up a few mediocre poems or short stories later in the semester.
