The story format may be anyway you wish. 1st person or 3rd person. The story subject can be anything you wish it to be.

tasting jumbalaya while a little kid cries..

Bouncing bouncy balls..on the city street,
watching a mouse..being very discreet.

Seeing tall buildings everywhere I go..
looking for a house where I can get an easy blow.

Standing on a building looking at the skies..
trying to find the peace in this world, but all I see is lies.

Alone in this World

There I was, perched among the town's walls.
Where addiction, deception, and trickery crawls.
Where screams for redemption, echoes through the halls.
I walk alone...

I gazed down deep into the depths of the city,
sympathizing for hearts, drowning in pity.
Engulfed by envy, revenge, and spite.
I stand alone...

This world is suffering, because temptation has grown,
I escape to the land that I claim as my own.
A place where everything is at peace.
I reminisce alone...

Why can the world not be the way it was?
Beauty, tranquility, purity and love.
All because sin has slowly rotted this world.
I remain alone...

It would be different, if people changed their ways,
but surely enough, everything good always strays
This "new" world will be the death of us all.

Characters:

Leia - A teenage girl who dreams of going to Europe to pursuse a lost love, who left to study art. She is a shy girl, and has a few friends.

Nate - Leia's younger brother, who is still in High School. He is 5 foot 9, brown hair, and wears a white shirt and blue jeans.

Trey - The boy who Leia loves. He does not appear alot in the story, but he loves Leia as much as he loves his art.

Chapter 1

Leia is sitting on their apartment roof, still thinking about Trey leaving for France to study painting and sculpting. She sighs, and starts to head back inside, when her brother comes out.
He said "What's up, Leia?"
"Nothing, Nate. I'm fine, really..." she said sad like.
"Come on, tell me what's up?"
"I already told you, nothing is wrong with me." She said with a tone.
"Come on, tell me."
"No."
"Come on!"
"NO!" She said with a roar. Then she realized what she did. "I'm sorry, Nate... it's about Trey. I'm worried."
"Why, he's been calling you every week, hasn't he?" He said, confused.
"No, I haven't heard from him for a month. I'm thinking he's forgotten about me..." She started to cry.
Nate said with a tone, "Well, let's go see him!"
"But what about school? And besides that, what about money? Mom and Dad would never want us to leave home, let alone go to a foreign country!" She said in distraught.
"Heh heh... you've forgotten someone... Mama." He said with a snicker.
"You're kidding..."
"You know how many times I've left town with her? She would pay for us to go see Trey. Hell, we could go to the moon!"
"I think your thinking too ahead again..."
"Well, let's go ask her then." He said.
And with that, they both left the roof.
