Hello, my name is Nick.

I have a desktop computer that has recently started shutting down by itself and says thermal event when i turn back on which means over heating (2003 edition)
well i only have it on for 2 hours before it does that, so how can a comp over heat in 3 hours?

maybe it has suddenly turned into a piece of $#@%
idk, but i would like some help with it. =p

thanks,
Nick

Well, I know that on a laptop when it just "shuts down" randomly, that not enough air can come through the vents. I had the same problem, and I took some parts off and found out that my vents were covered in dust. Once I had taken the dust off it worked perfectly fine. So most likely your computer is just very dirty.

It could be multiple thermal problems, try running a benchmark and see what the tempretures are afterwards. Im guessing either its the CPU or its the Northbridge or Southbridge chipsets on your motherboard.

If its any of them, you can easily find cooling solutions for them.
