Ideas For the Brand New Year

Well, I'm interested in kicking things off pretty quickly to start 2011. I wanted to host a contest, so that we can get our feet off of the ground, and start building our reputation again. I am considering either starting the 1st Literary of the Month contest, or Literary of the Week contest. I want to get some feedback from you guys to see which you would prefer. Also, to give the other Literary chances at maintaining activity, I was going to propose we assign duties to said competition. Instead of letting me run the competition, I would allow one of the other Artists to run it, so that they can keep their activity up, while still influencing the community in ways to enjoy the Literary Arts.

I think it should be run by you with a panel of literary artist judges. You have all the powers in the section so you can handle the mechanics while the artists influence the community with feedback and opinions.

LOTM is a good start though. LOTW never really took off.

In the past with LOTM, I always chose the best 3-5 out of the submissions. Allow the artists to do that. Also let them pick the theme and stuff. Then you put it all together.

Alright, I actually like that idea. I presume that we actually should do an "Anything Goes" theme, just to kick things off. Also, any ideas for a prize? Discuss...

I'm always against Literary Artist as a prize. Once the server kicks up, we have plenty of artists who want to donate prizes.

Do you think that we should wait until the actual server is released, or just find a minor prize until we can find something better. Literary Artist for winning was always a crappy deal.

Just wait for the official release. Then we can host the first server contest.

Alright that sounds good. I did have one contest I wanted to pitch. I actually got the idea a while back, but I have no prize to give, so the contest would be pointless. I wanted to host a contest in which the writer creates a scenery/setting, using a lot of imagery. I entered a contest on Kreepy's old website, Nitrocity, which inspired me to host it here.
