With more than a decade together I am very excited for us to begin this new chapter. I am super proud of the community that we have here and greatly appreciate the feedback that you all have given towards the route you want to see within our community!

Based on the votes, we will be starting the Official Server on a clean slate as well as being based on ub3r content. For those of you that voted for your old ub3r accounts, you will be pleased to know that we will also be launching a "classic" version of the Official Server (once the official server has been deemed stable) using the Official Server's back-end and will be allowing users to login to their old accounts (stats/items/etc will all be brought back within the classic server).

The plan for the "Official Server" is that we will poll the community for content and add updates to the server that match the Dodian feel. However, this server will ultimately be different than that of ub3r / Classic Server in which the areas will be different as well as the content itself. (Same feel, different areas and game mechanics.)

The plan for the "Classic Server" is that it will be based off the Official Server's back-end but will be a time capsule of ub3r. You will be able to access your old accounts or create new ones, and play Dodian as it were in 2008. Updates will be limited to this server as to not remove the classic aspect of it meaning only critical issues being resolved. (As we have seen what happened to osrs, if the community deems that an update is necessary or ub3r-esque content needs to be added, we will increase development towards this server.)

Now the catch, in an effort to follow what "works" the Classic Server will be limited to Premium Members only as done with osrs. (this server could ultimately become public as it did in osrs.)

The Beta... Launch of the Official Server (BETA) is set for August 20th. This will be a closed beta meaning you will need the appropriate access to login to the server. (news regarding beta applications to follow)

Once the beta has been deemed stable, the Official Server as well as the Classic Server will be launched.

Don't think there should be 2 separate servers, and I am confused as to how the votes/forum posts indicated that's what everyone wanted? It seems to be 'fresh start' winning solidly across the board, with a few posts about accessing old accounts during beta (which is fine).

Permanently splitting the player base is a mistake in my opinion and will result in 1) Two servers which both feel less alive than they could or 2) One of them entirely dies. This is against the core draw of MMOs which is existing in a world that feels alive with players, economy, etc.

Edit: Talking with Plasma on disc and it seems like the 'classic' sever will truly be side server (not on hiscores, limited staff support, etc.) and mostly there for nostalgia just to log into OG accounts - with that being the plan, it is probably fine to do it this way.

I am pleased with the outcome on so many levels. This gives everyone what they want. This is a chapter I have been waiting on for a very long time. Thank you Plasma and the Dodian community.

Big same. I'm looking forward to seeing if it will be as soon as the sign-offs or prior to losing bils in PvP šŸ˜

It could change much like OSRS did and become free. It's still in early stages and seems to be what works for now. As time goes on, things could change.

I think it would be neat to see them for free during the beta. I'm unsure if that would happen, but I feel the nostalgia you're seeking. I am excitedly waiting to see how things unfold.

Any update on the ā€œClassic Serverā€ (3rd paragraph)? Iā€™ve been eagerly waiting for that :)
