(Kinda going to explain it like I would to our fellow members)

With a new server back and a whole new staff team, the Literary team decided to revamp the Literary of the Month contest. To all of those that know what LOTM is, go to the next paragraph. For all who are new to Literary of the Month, let me explain it for you. This contest is held every month. To enter the contest you must submit a Poem or Short Story (Preferably a chapter or two) pertaining to that months Topic. The Topic or Theme, is the subject you will be writing about. It can very from a picture to an emotion. It will mostly be a general type of thing, so don't sweat it. You have until the deadline to PM(submit) the person who is hosting that month's LOTM (Generally myself). Those submissions will be compiled and posted on a voting thread. The community votes. It's that simple.

Literary of the Month will now be using a Point System. The Point System will give the top three winners all points to redeem for prizes. The prizes may vary month-to-month but, they generally will stay the same. The first place winner will receive an Avatar showing they won LOTM. PM all submissions to Kreepy or Shenandoah.

First Place - 5pts & Avatar
Second Place - 3pts
Third Place* - 1pt

*Third place will only be added if more than 4 people submit

If you place in the top two or three, you may redeem your prize at any time. Keep in mind that some prizes may not be available forever. We will keep track of your points on a separate thread that can be edited by either me or the Head Literary Artist.

When you want your prize redeemed, you must PM either me or the Head Literary and your prize will be given as soon as possible. Now that that's all out of the way, here are the prizes:

Trial Literary Artist - 10pts
Mystery Server Prize - 5pts
User Title - 3pts

Prizes will vary month-to-month (check daily!)

Rules:
-One Submission per ip/account/person
-One vote per Ip/account/person
-No plagiarism of any kind
-No breaking any forum rules

If any rules are broken, your submission will be void and you will never be allowed to participate in LOTM again.

I forgive you. It is by-far an excellent job. I love the commitment you put into it. Seems like it'll be a great change to things.

Also specify whether to message their entries to you or I. It's kinda hidden amongst the details. Make sure they know the difference.

... Oh, and I'm working on that avatar. It'll take a while, because, like I told Banana, I've got lots of school things to worry about at the moment, but I'll get around to finishing it at some point this month.

Just take your time with it. I'm sure that it'll look great. You'll have at least a month to get it finished, because when you're done, we can just add it in. On the other hand, we can add it after a winner is chosen, so that it'll remain a secret.

Edit: I pm'd Mko. Waiting on the PM back. If he gives me the okay, I'm putting it up.

So, it will take 2 LOTM competition winnings (at the minimum, if first in both) to be a trial Literary Artist.

I like that idea, as one contest hardly proves anything.

If you and Shen agree so, you can add me to the list to PM in case you or Shen are absent or whatever.

Has anyone thought of an idea or theme yet?

I believe we all need to go on irc in a channel and come up with a theme.

Well drags gave me the okay. Since it's a new type of LOTM, I'm going to set the theme to Open. Just so everyone has a fair chance. The only bad side is that Drags won't let me post it on the homepage. "I don't want it there"

He doesn't want it there, because he dislikes the section. He said so himself. Graphics are allowed on the front page, so we have just as much of a right to it.

This could be a new dawn for the section, and it NEEDS to be featured on the front page.

I'm not going against the staff by saying so, but go over Drags head... That's just one Admin opinion. Mko didn't care if I had it up last time. I suggest doing something, but it belongs there. That's our best chance at getting feedback.

Also, an open theme is a good idea. I say so, because we never crowned a winner for the last LOTM due to inactivity.
