Prayers:
1) Keep as is (100% reduction).
2) Reduce prayers from 100% to 50%.
3) Rework Bosses (100% for all combat npcs, 50% for boss npcs.)

1) 100% means that whilst using a combat protection prayer, if an NPC hits you for 10 health, you would receive 0 damage.
2) 50% means that whilst using a combat protection prayer, if an NPC hits you for 10 health, you would receive 5 damage.
3) Means that we will keep the 100% as is, but reduce it to 50% for bosses only.

Can we get a 4th option of removing protection prayers entirely? If not - prolly #2.
 
Voted for #2, but would definitely be open to the option of fully removing protection prayers completely.

As for the poll. I would personally also prefer to have protection prayers removed entirely. If that isn’t an option, I pick option #2.
 
I feel like keep prayer and put it as 50% but balance bosses around that factor.
 
I would love to add something like raids or multi fight bosses with a real combat setting. So if that's added in the future, we would definitely want prayer in the game otherwise you're going to get obliterated.
 
I think prayer is fine, as it allows people to not have to rely on food as heavily. Maybe just have really strong bosses hit through prayer, if thats an option? Not all bosses, maybe not even any we have now. But maybe future boss can hit through protect, and certain ones more then others. As well as adding bosses that switch their attack styles etc. So there will be more challenge and interaction during the fights making them more fun! Maybe you could add a code directly correlated with protection prayers, where combat level of boss determines percentage of prayer protect. 100>=100% protection , 100-200=75%, etc. idk just some thoughts.

EDIT: and bosses that use prayer themselves sounds fun also :D

Hello everyone,

I wanted to discuss the options presented in the poll regarding prayer. In my opinion, the issue is more complex than simply choosing between reducing prayer by 50% or eliminating it entirely. I believe we should focus on making prayer more accessible to everyone, as obtaining good bones is currently quite challenging.

My suggestion is to consider making dragon bones a guaranteed drop from all bosses. This would greatly improve the availability of useful bones for prayer. Additionally, I propose reducing prayer by 30% and revising our item stats accordingly. It's important to note that completely removing prayer would render two-handed weapons useless, as shields would become the preferable choice.

Furthermore, I'd like to address the issue of boss drops, particularly from the black knight titan. The current drops such as the glory, obby cape, D2H, are underwhelming compared to other items. For example, a strength amulet is superior to the glory, a skillcape is better than the obby cape, and a rune scimitar outperforms the D2H. Moreover, the odds of obtaining a saradomin sword from the Skeleton Warlord are 1 in 1000, while a whip, which offers the same stats and the ability to wield a shield, has a drop rate of 1 in 250 which would become incredibly preferred after reducing prayer.

I've noticed that ranged combat has been gaining popularity recently. With the proposed reduction in prayer, ranged attacks could become even more overpowered. In fact, today Suggysean demonstrated how it's possible to effectively flick with ranged attacks, allowing players to stay out of the damage zone.

It's crucial to consider a broader range of factors when aiming to improve our combat system. Simply suggesting a reduction or elimination of prayer won't necessarily lead to a better outcome; instead, it might introduce new challenges and complications.
 
I think 50% is better then removing it entirely. I was talking to someone this morning about it even reducing damage, instead of protecting ,but...could always use curses for that (I forget if they're available with what we are using for a source)
 
Im totally against removing protection players. It's not at all broken. The bosses are the issue, not the melee prot. Why the hell is a dragon's breath a melee attack? You could literally add different attack styles to bosses instead, which would promote a skill expression, and not kill a skill. Why not just put uber 3.0 back if prayer is meant to be useless?
 
The main issue with prayer right now is how easy it is to leave a boss, replenish prayer points, and make it back to the boss before it respawns. This leads to players never having to actually use supplies, effectively making some skills (fishing, cooking, herblore) near worthless. There needs to be a deterrent to leaving the boss rooms so frequently.

I'd maintain that having protection prayers fully block damage from bosses is also bad. Only way to fix that is to add chip damage (70% reduction instead of 100%), or you could add additional mechanics to the bosses (like special attacks) that hit through prayer completely at random times.
